Find My Handmade Lampshades at Horsley Community Shop This June
One of the things I love most about running a creative business is seeing my work become part of the community that inspired it in the first place. So I'm delighted to share that a selection of my handmade lampshades is now available at Horsley Community Shop throughout June.
For those who don't know it, Horsley Community Shop is much more than just a village shop. Nestled in the heart of Horsley, Gloucestershire, it has been serving the local community since 2009 and has become a real hub of village life. Positioned between the village hall, school, church, and play park, it's one of those places where you're almost guaranteed to bump into a familiar face, especially during the summer months.
Run by local volunteers and owned by the community, Horsley Community Shop offers far more than everyday essentials. Alongside groceries and household necessities, you'll find wonderful local produce including Duchy Organic vegetables, Hobbs House Bakery bread, Godsell's cheese, local flowers, and a carefully chosen selection of speciality foods and locally made products.
These kinds of community ventures play an important role in village life. They create places for people to connect, help support local producers and makers, and keep money circulating within the local economy. In an age when so much shopping happens anonymously online, there is something special about stepping into a shop where the people behind the products often live just a few miles away.
The village is surrounded by beautiful countryside and walking routes, making it an ideal stop during a day out in the Gloucestershire hills. Families can enjoy the children's play park right next to the shop, while those looking for refreshments can visit The Hog, a popular local pub just around the corner.
With free parking available by the shop and park, it's easy to pop in while exploring the area.
Nature-Inspired Lampshades Inspired by Gloucestershire Wildlife

Like much of my work, these designs draw inspiration from the wildlife and landscapes that surround us here in Gloucestershire. Many begin with walks, wildlife sightings, family adventures, and the small moments of wonder that happen when we spend time outdoors.
Having them displayed in Horsley feels particularly fitting because so many of the illustrations are inspired by the countryside, rivers, birds, and animals that are part of life here.
As much as I love selling online, there is something lovely about seeing lampshades in real life.
Photographs can only tell part of the story. Seeing the scale, colours, textures, and details up close helps you appreciate the illustration in a different way. You can compare designs side-by-side, imagine them in your own home, and get a better sense of how they might look as part of your décor.
It's also rather wonderful for me to see all the designs together in one place rather than individually packed and posted around the country.

Why Supporting Local Shops and Makers Matters
Independent makers and community-run shops share something important: they're rooted in place.
